One man is dead and another is wounded following attempted robbery during a dice game. According to information from the office of the Peoria County States Attorney, Jodi Hoos, the incident occurred on Thursday, July 6th in the area of the 1300 Block of NE Madison. There, a group of men were playing dice when they were approached by 21 year old Ronnie Simmons of Peoria. Simmons is said to have attempted to rob the dice players and amid the attempted robbery, he shot and killed Demetrious Davis of Peoria. Another man involved in the game attempted to take the gun from Simmons and suffered a gunshot wound. That man was taken to a nearby hospital and is said to be recovering from his injuries. Demetrious Davis died at the hospital. Simmons fled the scene on foot before being captured by Police and charged with First Degree Murder, Aggravated Battery, and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon. Simmons is currently being held at the Peoria County Jail on a $1.5 million dollar bond.
