A Peoria man faces life in prison after being found guilty for the murder of a Manual High School student two years ago.  The Peoria County State’s Attorney’s Office announced the guilty verdict on September 27, 2023, for 20-year-old Jeremy Moore JR.  Moore was charged with the First Degree Murder (Class M Felony) of 17-year-old Jerry Snipes JR in October of 2021.  According to testimony at trial, Snipes was shot ten times, mostly in his back, with both a handgun and a shotgun, indicating two different people shot him, in the early morning hours on October 6, 2021, in the 2800 block of N. Lynn Street.

Moore is the first of three co-defendants to go to trial. Gary A. Irby, 21, and Tyranique White, 19, have also been charged in the case. The state has alleged that along with Moore, Irby was the other shooter. Irby is scheduled for trial in November.

Because the jury found that Moore personally discharged a firearm, he is eligible for up to a life sentence in the Illinois Department of Corrections. His sentencing is set for November 3, 2023.
