A Peoria teenager has been charged following a failed attempt to perpetrate a school shooting. Acting on a crucial tip-off from another county, Peoria Police Detectives successfully intercepted plans for the attack. The youths involved were reportedly using the chat platform Discord to strategize and arrange weapons. The teen’s extensive 29-page journal, discovered by police, contained detailed plans, diagrams, and research into the legal system. He now faces three serious charges and is confined in the Peoria County Juvenile Detention Center. The State’s Attorney’s Office have requested the teen be tried as an adult, given the gravity of the charges. However, as the offender is a minor, more detailed information cannot be shared at present. The investigation is ongoing.
