In Peoria, Illinois, an inmate has found himself faced with an additional charge for threatening a county judge. Earlier this week, Taiwand Hughes, an 18-year-old detained for firing a gun into a house, verbally threatened Judge Mark Gilles, the very person who ordered his detention. The threats were captured in a phone call from the jail. Hughes now faces a charge of Threatening a Public Official, a Class 3 Felony. Assistant State Attorney, Jodi M. Hoos, voiced her concerns about such threats within the justice system, asserting that her duty is to keep such individuals in custody.
