Plea Scheduled for East Moline Woman Charged in I-74 Pedestrian Path Crash that Killed Two

The East Moline woman charged with killing two people with her vehicle on the new I-74 Pedestrian path is scheduled to take a plea on September 15, 2023, at 1 PM.  Chhabria A Harris is accused of killing two people and injuring one person with her vehicle while driving on the bike path of the new I-74 bridge in the early morning of May 22, 2022. Ethan Lee Gonzalaz, 21, and Anthony M Castaneda, 18, died from their injuries.  Harris is also charged with Aggravated Battery for striking a woman in the Rock Island County Jail causing injury on May 28, 2023.

Chhabria Harris is charged with Aggravated DUI Accident with Death (Class 2 Felony), Aggravated DUI Accident with Death (Class 2 Felony), Aggravated DUI Bodily Harm (Class 4 Felony), Failure to Stop for an accident involving injury or death (Class 4 Felony), Aggravated Reckless Driving (Class 4 Felony), Reckless Homicide with Motor Vehicle (Class 3 Felony), Reckless Homicide with Motor Vehicle (Class 3 Felony) for 22CF405.  Harris is charged with two counts of Aggravated Battery/Public Place (Class 3 Felony) for case 23CF429.
