In a fresh bid to combat fraudulent robocalls, Federal Communications Commission lands a unanimous vote to outlaw the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in cloning voices. Congressman Eric Sorensen (IL-17), celebrates the decision, citing the urgency for further protective measures against scammers, who he says, have swindled billions from unsuspecting citizens. To strengthen the fight against such cons, Sorensen, along with Congressman Juan Ciscomani (AZ-06), has proposed the QUIET Act. The bill mandates robocallers to reveal usage of AI and amplifies penalties for those misusing AI for impersonations.
