The Silvis Fire Department has purchased a 1939 American LaFrance Fire Engine and they want to give everyone a chance to see this piece of American Fire history. On Saturday, July 29th, the public is invited to stop by the Silvis Fire Department at 2010 10th Street in Silvis to take a closer look at this remarkable piece of Silvis history. This same engine was owned by the Silvis Fire Department and was in use from 1939 to 1964 and was used to save countless lives and property. The Silvis Fire Department Brotherhood spearheaded the purchase of the American LaFrance Fire Engine from a private owner with plans to restore the historic Fire Engine. For now though, anyone who would like a closer look at the American LaFrance Fire Engine can see it on Saturday, July 29th. At 10 AM on Saturday, a ceremony heralding the arrival of the engine will be held before the Engine goes on display for the day.
