No one was home when a fire started in the kitchen of a residence on Chamberlain Street but smoke detectors alerted the neighbors to call 911 and rescue the two dogs in the house. All three Stations of the Galesburg Fire Department responded to a structure fire in the 1000 block of Chamberlain Street on April 27, 2023. A small fire was located above the stove and was extinguished with a water extinguisher. The fire was determined to be unintentional and caused an estimated $2,000 in damages.
