Suspect Caught in Shooting at Sheridan Food Mart

The LaSalle County Sheriff’s Office have announced the arrest of a suspect who allegedly shot a man outside the Sheridan Food Mart in Sheridan, Illinois. According to the information provided by the LaSalle County Sheriff’s Office, 55 year old Jeffrey Plique is said to have shot a 63 year old man in the leg and fired other shots in the direction of other individuals. Two cars suffered damage in the shooting. The victim was taken from the scene to Valley West Hospital before being taken to OSF St. Anthony’s Medical Center in Rockford where the victim is said to be in good condition.

As for the assailant, Jeffrey Plique, witness statements indicate that after the shooting, Plique fled the scene on a riding lawn mower and returned to his residence in Sheridan, Illinois where he was apprehended without incident by the LaSalle County Sheriff’s Office. Currently. Plique is being held at the LaSalle County Sheriff’s Office without bond on a charge of Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm. More charges are pending as the investigation remains ongoing. Plique was set to be in court on Monday, October 24th for a pre-trial hearing.

The LaSalle County Sheriff’s Office was aided by the Sheridan Police Department, the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office, the Grundy County Sheriff’s Department and the Illinois State Police in investigating and apprehending the suspect. More on this story as information becomes available.
