The Moline Fire Department swiftly responded to a structure fire at Moline Enterprise Lofts on River Drive, a 69-unit apartment complex on February 21st, 2024. Upon arrival, the firefighting units noted water flowing from the upper floors, an indication of the activated sprinkler system. Going above and beyond, the department carried out a thorough search of the building to ensure all residents were safe. Their dedication, combined with the equipped sprinkler system, successfully contained the fire to its area of origin. In concert with local police, energy providers, and the Red Cross, they provided immediate support to displaced families. No injuries were reported thanks to the swift response. An investigation classified the fire as intentional and a suspect was apprehended shortly thereafter. Fire Marshal Mitch Cunningham has urged those with additional information to step forward.
