Swank Changes Mind on Plea Deal, Plea Continued to January 2023

Brandon Swank was set to take a Plea Deal on December 28, 2022, but changed his mind and requested a continuance to January.  After a loud interaction between Swank and his Attorney, Lance Camp, in the jury room, Mr. Camp said that Mr. Swank wants to review a couple things in the Plea with his attorney and requested a continuance.  The Plea is scheduled for January 19, 2023, at 9 AM.

Swank was arrested on August 7th after he allegedly threatened people in an establishment in the 300 block of Front Street in Galva with a knife.  On August 6th, Mr. Swank was issued a Notice to Appear for Criminal Trespass to Property for a trespassing complaint from the 300 block of Front Street on August 5th. On August 7, 2022, Galva Police and Henry County Sheriff’s Office arrested Swank and searched his person and backpack. Police found Meth, Drug Paraphernalia and a knife on Swank as a result of the search.   Swank was charged with Possession of a Weapon by a Felon (Class 3 Felony), Possession of less than 5 Grams Meth (Class 3 Felony) and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Class A Misdemeanor).
