Teenager Hurt in Train Trestle Accident in Wyanet

A 16 year old male suffered unspecified injuries after leaping from a train trestle bridge in Wyanet on Tuesday. According to information provided by the Bureau County Sheriff’s Office, the 16 year old male was on the train tracks in the area of the Locks 19 and 21 in Wyanet, IL, when the teen saw a train coming. The teenager jumped from the trestle to avoid the train and suffered injuries in the fall. According to representatives of the Bureau County Sheriff’s Department, “Life saving measures were performed on scene by witnesses. Bureau County Sheriff’s Deputies, Wyanet EMS, Wyanet Fire, Princeton EMS and Illinois
Department of Natural Resources Police responded to the scene.” The teenager was taken from the scene to OSF Saint Clare Medical Center and from there was taken by Life Flight to Peoria. The extent of the injuries to the 16 year old is unknown at this time.
