Two people are dead following a tragic accident on Interstate 39 in LaSalle County. According to information provided by the Illinois State Police, the accident occurred just after 11 Am on Wednesday morning on Interstate 39 near Milepost 76. A 2000 Chevrolet Silverado Truck was traveling Southbound in the Northbound Lanes of Interstate 39 when it struck a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer head-on. The Silverado then came to rest in the Center Median of Interstate 39 where it was struck by a third vehicle, a 2019 Ford F650 straight truck. Both drivers of the trucks that hit head-on died at the scene. The driver of the third vehicle is said to have escaped uninjured. The LaSalle County Coroner has yet to release the identities of the deceased drivers pending the notification of family members. The accident remains under investigation by the Illinois State Police.
