The 2023-2024 Covid-19 Shots for adults are now available at the Henry and Stark County Health Departments and First Choice Healthcare clinics in Kewanee and Colona by appointment. Call First Choice Healthcare in Kewanee at 309-852-5272 or in Colona at 309-792-4011 to make an appointment. If you have insurance, adults may get the Pfizer updated vaccine. Bring your insurance card to your appointment. If you do not have insurance, you may get the Pfizer or Moderna updated vaccine through the “Bridge Access Program”.
The Health Department notes that both the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) and CDC recommend vaccination with the updated COVID-19 vaccine for all persons aged ≥6 months. Older adults and persons with weakened immune systems are at greatest risk for hospitalization and death. In addition, healthy children and adults can still experience severe disease.
