Residents of Tampico were surprised to see a post last week on the ‘Village of Tampico Community Connection Group’ instructing residents to call the Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office for police matters.  What happened to the Tampico Police Department?  Tampico Mayor, Bruce Peltier, told RegionalMediaNews they have received two resignations from the Police Department and are waiting on one more resignation.  Mayor Peltier said he is unable to give more details at this time.  Mayor Peltier said the Tampico Police Department has not been disbanded and the future of the Tampico Police Department will be discussed at the Special Meeting on June 14, 2023, at 7:30 PM at the Tampico Village Hall.  If you need police, call 911 for emergencies or the non-emergency number for Whiteside County Sheriff’s Department at 815-772-4044 Option 1.
