Chief Welgat is battling stage four cancer and has told city leaders that he intends on spending as much time with his family as possible. The search is now underway for a new Kewanee Police Chief and Mayor Moore talked about Chief Welgat and the search for a new Kewanee Police Chief this morning on Wake Up Tri-Counties. At Monday’s meeting, the City of Kewanee approved a pair of variances and they set in writing updates to the City of Kewanee building code that bring the codes further in line with State guidelines, though not all state codes and guidelines.
