    Peak afternoon heat indices around 105 degrees expected.
    WHERE
    Portions of north central, northwest, and west central Illinois, east central, northeast, and southeast Iowa, and northeast Missouri.
    WHEN
    Until 8 PM CDT Monday.
    IMPACTS
    Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses.
    ADDITIONAL DETAILS
    Heat impacts will be worsened by several consecutive days of sweltering temperatures. Additionally, there will be little relief overnight with near record warm lows forecast in the mid to upper 70s.
    PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
    Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1.

Wake Up Tri-Counties Kewanee Park District Director Andy Dwyer Discusses Splash Pad Plans

The Kewanee Park District is holding a Special Meeting on Friday, August 25th, 2023, at 2 PM. At that meeting there will be a discussion of plans to for an upcoming OSLAD Grant. The plan includes plans for a Splash Pad at Liberty Park and that will be discussed during that meeting. Andrew Dwyer Director of the Kewanee Park District joined Wake Up Tri-Counties on Tuesday, August 22nd, 2023, to talk about the plans and design for a potential Splash Pad in Kewanee. It’s a busy month for the Parks Department and we also discussed the many events now happening at Kewanee Parks.
