The Kewanee Public Library has big plans for the upcoming Hog Days Weekend. Even before Hog Days begins, there will be a celebration of the history of the Pig in America. Illinois Road Scholar Cynthia A. Clampett will be at the Kewanee Public Library on Wednesday, August 30th at 6 PM for a presentation called “Wild Boar to Baconfest: Pigs in History and Pop Culture.” It’s a free presentation for anyone who’d like to take part and learn more about the history and popularity of Pigs ahead of Hog Days weekend. The library will be closed from Saturday through Monday of Kewanee Hog Days. Part of the reason why is that the Library will have a float in the 2023 Kewanee Hog Days Parade for the first time since before the Pandemic. And, of course, one of the highlights of EVERY Hog Days Weekend, the Friends of the Kewanee Public Library Book Sale is back for 2023. Sara Billiet tells us that it will once again run from 7 AM to 11 AM on Saturday, September 2nd in the parking lot of Johnson Appliance. Here all of that and more in our interview with Sara Billiet from the Kewanee Public Library.
