If you haven’t heard of the Walk for Angel Babies, you soon will. The walk organized by mom’s who’ve lost children during pregnancy or at birth, is set to take place in Galva this October. Recently, one of the organizer, Nikki Hogan spoke with WKEI RegionalMediaNews.com about the Walk and the charity organization’s very successful Chicago Cubs tickets fundraiser…

WKEI – What inspired the Walk for Angel Babies?

Nikki Hogan – We have two Angel babies. After both of our losses I shared our story on social media. I received many people sending private messages from people telling me their stories. I was surprised how many people I knew that had been through the same traumatic situation. I decided I wanted to do something to make a change and raise awareness. I dont want anyone to feel alone when they are going through this.

WKEI – You recently were auctioning off tickets to Chicago Cubs games, how did the fundraiser go?

The fundraiser went well. I was worried in the beginning but it seems everyone was just waiting to place their bids.

WKEI – You have the Walk coming up in October, how can people help and where can people find more information?

We have started an event page under Walk For Angel Babies. Along with the walk we are selling bracelets, merchandise and having a silent auction. A purchase of any of these three things would be wonderful. We are still looking for items to auction off. Any item donated would be greatly appreciated.

WKEI – What is the overall goal of the Walk for Angel Babies?

To raise awareness about pregnancy and infant loss. All funds raised will go to The Rorie Mae Foundation. This foundation was started by a couple from Kewanee. It is a 501C3 organization that helps people in that situation pay for funerals and grief counseling.

Anyone interested in joining us for the walk should check the event page for information. If anyone is interested in donating an item to the silent auction please comment on the event page.
