Winter Storm Warning for Tri-Counties, Quad Cities, Illinois Valley Area


2 to 5 inches of snow are now part of a Winter Storm warning for the Tri-Counties, the Quad Cities and well into Eastern Iowa. That from the National Weather Service on Wednesday morning. What was a Winter Storm Watch on Tuesday is now a Winter Storm Warning on Wednesday with the Snow set to begin to fall late Wednesday, early Thursday morning. With that will be wind gusts of around 50 miles per hour by Friday. Blizzard conditions are expected as the storm progresses through Thursday, into Friday and on Saturday. From the National Weather Service “.Plan on dangerous road conditions. Widespread blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commutes. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches, leading to power outages. The dangerously cold wind chills as low as 40 below zero could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes.”
