The National Weather Service out of Chicago has issued a Winter Storm Watch for Henry, Rock Island, and Mercer Counties beginning Thursday evening and lasting into late Friday. Blizzard conditions are predicted for the area with wind gusts upwards of 55 miles per hour. Falling and blowing snow may result in white out conditions with zero visibility making travel extremely difficult. Power outages are a concern as well do to the heavy wind and blowing snow. Bitterly cold temperatures will also present a hazard as temperatures Thursday into Friday could include a wind chill factor as low as 25 degrees below zero. The Winter Storm Watch is in effect until late Friday night, December 23rd, 2022.
