Trio Arrested in Rock Island Shooting Incident as Investigation Unfolds

Three individuals were arrested following a shooting incident in Rock Island on December 22, 2024, around 8:30 PM. The Rock Island Police Department heard gunshots in the 1500 block of 9th Avenue. Officers stopped a tan Chevrolet Suburban that was occupied by the suspects. Rock Island Police detained Isaiah Trueblood (19), Johnny D. Matthews Jr. (23), and DeShawn M. L. Mapp (47). Trueblood fled the vehicle but was quickly detained and found in possession of a loaded handgun. Matthews faces charges related to firing a handgun toward another vehicle, while Mapp was charged with possession of a controlled substance. No injuries were reported. The investigation continues, and authorities are seeking further information. Trueblood was charged with Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Resisting or Obstructing a Peace Officer. Matthews was charged with Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm (updated charge). Mapp was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance. All three suspects were transported to the Rock Island County Jail.
