Area law enforcement agencies assisted the Stark County Sheriff’s Office execute search warrants at multiple locations around Wyoming. On Friday evening, October 10, 2024, two people were arrested without incident as a result of searches at four locations and transported to the Bureau County Jail on preliminary charges ranging from theft to a homemade explosive device. Caleb A Deck, 47, of Wyoming was booked on preliminary charges of Criminal Trespass to State Property, theft, and burglary for case 2024CF20. Aggravated Assault to a Peace Officer, felon in possession of a firearm by a felon for case 224CF19. According to court documents, the state has filed a petition to deny pretrial release.
Amanda L Powell, 44, of Wyoming was booked on preliminary charges for possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of explosive device.
The homemade pipe bomb was disposed of by the Peoria Area Bomb Squad. The Stark County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Wyoming Police Department, Black Hawk Area Task Force, Toulon Police Department, Henry and Stark Counties SWAT Team, Kewanee Police Department, and Henry County Sheriff’s Office. The Peoria Police Department Bomb Squad and the Illinois Secretary of State Police Bomb Squad also assisted with the searches. The Wyoming Fire Department provided traffic control and the Stark County Ambulance Service was on standby.
All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in the court of law.
