Two Arrested for Union Federal ATM Burglary in Kewanee Saturday Night

In Kewanee, authorities have arrested two individuals, Yanis J. Garrido-Diaz and Enyerbe O. Rivera Chavez, who were linked to a recent ATM burglary at Union Federal Savings and Loan around 9:14 on Saturday, February 22, 2025. Witnesses in the area at the time of the robbery were available to provide pertinent information regarding the vehicle used in the robbery. With help from the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, police were able to find the suspect vehicle and identify the two occupants. Both men face serious felony charges of burglary and possession of burglary tools. Both men were transported to the Henry County Jail and are awaiting their first hearing.

Bank officials are conducting procedures to ensure the ATM is safe for Union Federal Savings and Loan customers. The ATM could be back in service as early as Monday, February 24th.

Yanis J. Garrido-Diaz is charged with Burglary (Class 2 Felony), Possession of Burglary Tools (Class 4 Felony), and No Valid Driver’s License (Class A Misdemeanor).

Enyerbe O. Rivera Chavez is charged with Burglary (Class 2 Felony) and Possession Burglary Tools (Class 4 Felony).

The local police department continues to investigate, collecting evidence to unravel further details. Anyone with information regarding the robbery should contact Detective Sergeant Eric Peed at 309-853-1911.

All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
