Two Arrested In Macomb After Friday Morning Shooting

MACOMB, IL – Two men were arrested early Friday morning after shots were heard being fired on East Murray Street in Macomb.

According to a report issued by the Macomb Police Department (MPD), the Macomb/McDonough County 911 Center received a call of a shooting at 1501 East Murray Street at 10:56 a.m. on Friday. Officers were dispatched and on arrival they spotted multiple people outside of the home.

Two men, Courtney L. Hayes, 33, of Macomb, and Caleb K. Lane, 35, of Sikeston, MO, were detained and an investigation into the incident was conducted. Preliminary findings indicated that the two men were involved in a fight when Lane fired a shot at Hayes. A search warrant was executed and a 9mm semi-automatic handgun was found.

Hayes was arrested and charged with Domestic Battery. Lane was also arrested, charged with Aggravated Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm.

No persons were reported injured from the incident.
