    IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Extensive street flooding and flooding of creeks and rivers are possible.

    ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Thunderstorms are expected across the watch area today, and again tonight into Sunday morning. Very high rainfall rates of 2 inches or greater in a short time are possible, which could lead to flash flooding particularly in urban areas. In addition, with the potential for repeated rounds of storms, some locations could receive 2 to 4 inches of rain with locally higher amounts possible. With saturated soils from previous rainfall, these rainfall rates and rainfall amounts will lead to an increased risk for flash flooding.

Two Citations Issued to the Driver that Struck a Kewanee Fire Truck

The driver of the vehicle that collided with a Kewanee Fire truck, that was responding to an ambulance call, was given two citations.  Abigail Camacho, 24, of Kewanee was issued citations for failure to yield to an emergency vehicle and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.  According to Chief Stephen Welgat, the damages to the fire truck are cosmetic and will be fixed while the truck is at the dealership for scheduled maintenance.

On December 16, 2023, around 9:50 PM, Engine 1 was responding to an emergency call with an ambulance when a passenger vehicle struck the Fire Truck at 2nd and Main Streets.  The Henry County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to conduct the crash report. Kewanee Fire Chief, Chief Stephen Welgat, said the accident didn’t delay the response to the emergency call.  Chief Welgat said there were no injuries from the accident.
