It was a weekend of remarkable achievements at the State Special Olympics, where athletes displayed unforgettable determination despite soaring temperatures. Heather Angel took top honors in the 30-meter Motorized Slalom and added a silver in the Tennis Ball Throw. Alexis Bral earned double silver in the 50-meter run and Softball Throw. Standouts Sara Carmichael and Cindy Hansen each claimed gold in the 100-meter and 400-meter walk, respectively. The 4×100 meter Walk Relay brought home bronze for several athletes, while heat forced the cancellation of the 800-meter run. Coaches and volunteers were applauded for their vital support throughout a memorable event. “And a special shoutout to our volunteer coaches – none of this is possible without each one of you and we are thankful for the time and dedication you put in!”
