Mayor Gary Moore joined Wake Up Tri-Counties to discuss the Kewanee City Council meeting on August 26, 2024.  Roadwork was the big topic of the night. After an extended discussion about the roadwork plan presented at the council meeting, the council voted 4 to 1 to approve the plan to be released for bids. Councilmember Steve Faber was the only one to vote no because he said the cost to sand seal shouldn’t cost $600,000. The packet said the cost would be $500,000, but Gary Bradley said they met with the engineers and determined the cost would likely be $600,000. The council approved the amendment to the city code regarding delinquent water customers to streamline the process. Public Works Director Kevin Newton said the city will focus on filling potholes after LRS takes over trash collection on September 2nd because there will be additional city employees to work on potholes.

Mayor Gary Mayor presented a proclamation to the Daughters of the American Revolution Constitution Week.
