Kewanee Mayor Gary Moore joined Wake Up Tri-Counties to recap the Kewanee City Council meeting on Monday, July 8, 2024. On the agenda, is approval of the budget for the fiscal years May 1, 2024, to April 30, 2025. There is a resolution to authorize Mayor Moore, the City Manager, the Fire Chief, and the City Clerk to execute a purchase agreement to refurbish and replace the outdoor warning sirens. The Henry County Office of Emergency Management is working on an app for Henry County residents to use as another option to get alerts for severe weather. There is a resolution to authorize the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) Rebuild Downtown and Main Streets Capital Grant Program to make improvements in the Downtown Business District for phase 2 of the downtown renovation. The city must match 25% of the DCEO grant, but there are possible federal grants that will help cover the 25% match amount.
