A 6th grade Kewanee student gave a presentation to his class about Chiari Malformation. Kee’Gan suffers from the disorder in which the Cerebellum is malformed. He showed his class when a normal cerebellum looks like and then showed his classmates what his cerebellum looks like. In honor of Chiari Malformation Awareness Month, Kee’Gan is asking Kewanee residents to paint the town purple on Tuesday, September 10, 2024. His class is wearing purple to support him, will you?
Chiari Malformation is a neurological disorder where the cerebellum, the bottom part of the brain that meets the spinal cord, descends from the scull base and pinches the spinal cord. This puts pressure on the brain and the spine, disrupting flow of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), which causes pain, balance problem, and more.
