Spoon River College is set to demystify the college financial aid process with two upcoming events at Macomb High School. The first session, scheduled for October 30th, at 5:30 p.m., will provide an overview of the 2025-2026 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). A follow-up workshop on December 11th, starting at 5:00 p.m., offers hands-on assistance for completing the FAFSA form.
Nikki Rittenhouse, the college’s financial aid director, emphasizes the importance of understanding recent FAFSA changes to ensure accurate submissions. Participants should bring pertinent financial documents and personal information to the December event. These sessions are open to prospective students, their families, and adult learners interested in exploring funding options for higher education.
At the December FAFSA completion workshop, attendees should bring their 2023 income information (W-2’s or tax returns), as well as any additional untaxed income such as veteran’s benefits, child support (paid or received) and worker’s compensation. They should also bring the names, birth dates, social security numbers, and email address of any contributors. The school code for all locations of Spoon River College is 001643, and is needed to complete the
FAFSA application.
