    IMPACTS
    The dangerously cold wind chills as low as 30 below zero could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes. Frostbite and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin is exposed to these temperatures.
    PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
    Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves. Keep pets indoors as much as possible. Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills inside.

Responding to a shooting in Ashland on December 14, 2023, these individuals saved a critically injured man’s life through prompt life-saving measures and advanced medical procedures, marking the sole survivor of a murder-suicide.

Fulton County Sheriff’s Deputy Mason McCormick

Deputy McCormick’s quick thinking and action in applying a tourniquet at a severe vehicle accident on August 28, 2023, prevented further blood loss from a victim’s severed arm, ultimately saving their life.

Meritorious Service Award

Knox County Sheriff’s Deputies Heath Milan and Torry Carnes, and Chief Deputy Lindsey May

Deputies Milan and Carnes made significant drug seizures on August 17 and 23, 2023, removing illegal substances and firearms from the streets. Chief Deputy May’s efforts led to the arrest of narcotics traffickers and the seizure of illegal drugs and weapons on October 10, 2023, contributing to making Knox County safer.
