Rising COVID-19 cases at Illinois Veterans’ Homes in LaSalle, Manteno, and Quincy have prompted an enhanced response from health officials, as 36 individuals—consisting of both veterans and staff—have tested positive. Despite the uptick, symptoms remain mostly mild. IDVA Director Terry emphasized the continuous vigilance in monitoring and testing, asserting that these measures have kept the spread in check and safeguarded both residents and personnel.
Dr. Sameer Vohra of the IDPH highlighted the collaborative efforts to manage the outbreak, including specialized support from Regional Infection Control Coordinators. In line with CDC and IDPH guidelines, the facilities have adopted stricter protocols such as increased social distancing, mandatory masking in care areas, and rigorous cleaning routines to curtail further infections.
