    IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Extensive street flooding and flooding of creeks and rivers are possible.

    ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Thunderstorms are expected across the watch area tonight into Sunday morning. Very high rainfall rates of 2 inches or greater in a short time are possible, which could lead to flash flooding particularly in urban areas. In addition, with the potential for repeated rounds of storms, some locations could receive 2 to 4 inches of rain with locally higher amounts possible. With saturated soils from previous rainfall, these rainfall rates and rainfall amounts will lead to an increased risk for flash flooding.

ISP Announces Results of March Enforcement Campaigns

METAMORA, IL – Illinois State Police (ISP) Troop 4 Commander, Captain Dustin Geier, disclosed the outcomes of March’s enforcement initiatives across various counties. In McDonough County, the Distracted Driving Enforcement Program aimed to curb serious crashes by targeting distracted driving. This resulted in 2 hand-held phone/device citations, making a total of 2 distracted driving citations and 2 written warnings, alongside 30 citations and 19 written warnings in total.

A Roadside Safety Check (RSC) in Peoria County yielded 3 DUI citations, 5 citations for other alcohol/drug offenses, 5 occupant restraint offenses, 3 registration offenses, 8 driver’s license offenses, and 12 insurance violations, totaling 41 citations/arrests and 5 written warnings.

Nighttime Enforcement (NITE) patrols in Tazewell County recorded 1 occupant restraint offense, 3 driver’s license offenses, and 6 insurance violations, totaling 31 citations/arrests and 14 written warnings.

The Alcohol Countermeasure Enforcement (ACE) patrols in McDonough and Peoria Counties led to 1 other alcohol/drug citation, 8 registration offenses, 3 driver’s license offenses, and 10 insurance violations, totaling 53 citations/arrests and 36 written warnings.

Occupant Restraint Enforcement Patrols (OREP) in Peoria and Tazewell Counties concentrated on ensuring compliance with seat belt laws. A total of 52 safety belt citations and 8 child restraint citations were issued, totaling 116 citations and 30 written warnings.

Captain Geier highlighted the critical role of alcohol and drug impairment in fatal motor vehicle crashes, stressing the dedication of ISP officers to removing dangerous drivers from the road. These enforcement actions reflect the ISP’s commitment to saving lives and reducing traffic-related fatalities by reinforcing responsible driving behaviors and compliance with traffic laws.
