It was a special night, November 26th, honoring William “Bill” Setser as the Setser family traveled to Macomb to unveil a Digital Board that was hung in his honor at the Washington Street Gym.
Bill was a 1951 graduate of Macomb High School, participating in Football, Basketball, and Track. Bill worked at Macomb High School for 31 years (1967-1997). While an educator, he became the second Girls Basketball coach in 1975 (75/76 to 77/78) and ultimately served as Athletic Directo…r from 1992 to 1997. Bill’s passion for working with young people is evident from the numerous lives he impacted, which led the family to direct his memorial to the Digital Board at WSG, where Bill coached.
The boards will not replace the current scoreboards, but will allow for an interactive fan experience, as well as highlighting individual players. Further, businesses will be able to share advertising through the boards. The Macomb High School unveiling will be December 3, as the Boys Basketball team plays Geneseo.
The boards are the culmination of fundraising and generous donations from individuals and area businesses. Major sponsors include McDonough District Hospital, First Mid Insurance, Cory Clem- APEX Financial Associates, Pepsi, DOT Foods, Bedwell Tree Service, and Land of Lincoln Credit Union. A memorial contribution toward the Washington Street Gym Digital Board was made by the family of William “Bill” Setser
This project would not be possible without our incredible community and the amazing efforts of the Macomb Bomber Boosters who believe in our kids!
The Macomb School District thanks all that are involved in helping to make this very special project happen! #mac185
