McDonough County Lifting Burn Ban

SHARE NOW

McDonough County Emergency Services and Disaster Agency (ESDA) announces that the burn ban in unincorporated McDonough County has been lifted.

The temporary restrictions were issued as a precautionary measure to reduce fire danger. With conditions improving, open burning may now resume.

“We appreciate the cooperation of residents during the burn ban,” said Edgar R. Rodriguez, McDonough County ESDA Director. “Your efforts helped reduce the risk of dangerous fires and protect our community. We encourage everyone to continue practicing safe burning habits.”

Although the ban has been lifted, residents are reminded to:

  • Never leave open burns unattended
  • Keep water or fire extinguishing tools nearby
  • Avoid burning during high winds

McDonough County ESDA and the McDonough County Sheriff Department will continue to monitor weather and fire risk conditions. Residents are encouraged to sign up for the McDonough County Emergency Notification System, follow ESDA and the Sheriff’s Office on social media, and visit www.mcesda.com for updates.
