May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and Memorial Hospital is championing the message “Turn Awareness into Action.” Behavioral Health Coordinator Brock Stout emphasizes that recognizing mental health challenges in ourselves and others is just the first step. Taking action—whether by supporting neighbors, sharing personal stories, or advocating for improved policies—fosters stronger, more compassionate communities.
Valerie Brown, RN and Program Director of the Evergreen Center, adds that even small gestures can help break stigma and encourage people to seek help. The hospital’s staff urges anyone struggling, or those looking to help, to reach out to healthcare providers and keep the conversation going.
