“Camp Ellis: Once a City-Not Forgotten” is presented by Rick Klinedinst, MidAmerica National Bank. Seemingly overnight in 1942, a major U.S. Army Unit Training Center and prisoner-of-war camp arose in a quiet central Illinois farming community to become Camp Ellis. Rick Klinedinst will discuss the many impacts this short-lived city had on the local communities and the war, the variety of professional trainings that occurred, the POWs housed within its walls, and ultimately how it disappeared just as suddenly as it appeared.

“Arts or Crafting? Yes!!” is presented by Kim Dunnigan. Do you have a knack for art or some form of creativity? Let’s talk about how being creative at any age is truly good for you. We’ll discuss ideas and resources that are available to you! You will also be able to create a couple of easy art projects to take home!

The second morning session from 11:15 a.m.-12:15 p.m. includes a choice of: “Get Moving and Grooving at the YMCA” or “Investment Strategies in Today’s Changing Environment”.

“Get Moving and Grooving at the YMCA” is presented by Cindy Cavett and Tanya Schmidt, McDonough Co. YMCA. The YMCA of McDonough County Senior Center has much to offer our county. Learn all about what you can do and what services are available at the YMCA. Finish off the session with a sample of our most popular class—Sit and Get Fit! Tanya will energize you with easy and fun chair exercises set to moving and grooving songs—no experience necessary!

“Investment Strategies in Today’s Changing Environment” is presented by Rick Imhoff, MidAmerica National Bank. Interested in learning how to invest but aren’t sure where to start? In this informational session we will discuss several strategies to help you better navigate the current investment and economic environment, including ideas on how to minimize income taxes.
