A milestone was marked at the McDonough County Courthouse as the community celebrated its bicentennial with a ceremonial ribbon cutting. Local leaders, including the Ambassador Committee of the Macomb Area Chamber of Commerce, gathered on January 26th, to commemorate 200 years since the county’s founding in 1826.

The ceremony is the beginning of a year-long slate of festivities, ranging from educational activities to heritage events, aimed at highlighting the county’s rich traditions and honoring those who have contributed to its development. Residents can look forward to numerous opportunities to engage with the area’s storied past throughout the year.
