State Senator Jil Tracy is pushing for renewed local control in deciding where solar and wind energy projects can be built. Tracy, representing Quincy, says that while renewable energy is vital, decisions shouldn’t be rushed or forced on communities.
She’s backing Senate Bill 1457, which would stop wind and solar farms from being built within three miles of city boundaries, and Senate Bill 160, which would allow townships to have more say over projects near subdivisions and nursing homes. Additionally, Senate Bill 23 would require regular audits of solar companies, aiming to protect consumers from false claims and unfinished projects.
