The Wethersfield Chapter of the National Honor Society has made a significant impact by donating $8,562 to the Kewanee Food Pantry. NHS students organized creative projects and fundraisers, involving staff, families, community members, and local businesses to reach their impressive goal. Mrs. Lay, the chapter advisor, expressed her pride in the students’ dedication and teamwork, emphasizing the importance of community service. She extended her gratitude to everyone who contributed, noting that their efforts not only support the food pantry but also inspire these young leaders to continue making a positive difference beyond their high school years.
In a pep talk to the National Honor Society students, Principal Mr. Nichols said, “So I want to say thank you for how well you represented us. You made us look awesome because every one of you is awesome, and the hard work you put in. So we really do thank you, and just keep doing what you’re doing. You all are awesome, and I appreciate it very, very much.”
The Kewanee Food Pantry said in a Facebook post, “We just can’t say enough about this donation today from the WHS National Honor Society
They have been hard at work and we gratefully accepted their gift of $8,562! We hope those students understand what an impact this will have on our community. THANK YOU!!”
