Wethersfield Schools Superintendent Dr. Andrew Brooks has announced plans to step down at the end of June 2026, accepting a new role as Superintendent for Knoxville CUSD #202, starting July 1, 2026. Citing deep gratitude for the Wethersfield community, Dr. Brooks reflected on significant district achievements, including academic honors, facility upgrades, and a strong, collaborative culture. Dr. Brooks also expressed confidence in the leadership of Mr. Tyler Nichols and Mr. Kyle Dennison to guide the district during the transition. Dr. Brooks assures the community of a strong finish and a continued commitment to students in the months ahead.

Dr. Books said in a Facebook post, “This was not an easy decision. Wethersfield has been a special place to serve. Together, we’ve accomplished great things—earning an Exemplary designations from the State, expanding the arts, creating new learning environments like the AR/VR lab, and tackling major facility improvements that will serve students for years to come. Just as importantly, we’ve built upon a culture rooted in kindness, teamwork, and pride—which makes this “One Block, One Flock” community feel like family.”

“I want to sincerely thank our Board of Education for their trust and partnership, and our incredible administrators, teachers, and staff for your dedication to kids every single day. In particular, I have great confidence in Mr. Tyler Nichols and Mr. Kyle Dennison, whose leadership, character, and steady presence will help guide the district through this transition and continue to move Wethersfield forward.”

“While I’m excited about returning to Knoxville, where my teaching career began nearly three decades ago, please know that Wethersfield will always hold a very special place in my heart. I am deeply grateful for the relationships, the trust, and the shared sense of purpose that define this community.
Over the next several months, my focus remains squarely on finishing strong—supporting our students, staff, and district initiatives, and helping ensure a seamless leadership transition. Thank you for allowing me to be part of this journey with all of you. Dr. B.”
