MACOMB, IL – Western Illinois University has announced that the WIU Athletics department will host the 34th Annual Purple and Gold Gala, their largest fundraiser of the year, on Saturday in the Grand Ballroom of the University Union. The event features an online auction that is live and open to all participants.
“We are excited to get our biggest fans all in one place and kick off the academic year,” said WIU Athletic Director Paul Bubb. “This event is vital to our department’s success and helps provide a top-notch student-athlete experience. I’m looking forward to a fun and successful event, in a new location.”
The evening will begin with a reception, social and silent auction at 5 p.m., followed by food stations opening at 5:30 p.m. The silent auction will close at a specified time, and guests will hear from multiple speakers during the program. The dress code is flexible, allowing guests to wear formal, informal, casual, business attire, or their favorite sneakers.
The online auction is live and accessible on the Purple and Gold Auction website, with new items consistently uploaded. All items will open at 8 a.m. CST and close at 8 p.m. CST on all respective days. The online auction will end at the end of the gala event on Saturday, Aug. 12.
