Monday is the deadline to file and pay federal and state income taxes. For federal filers needing an extension, the proper forms must be submitted with a payment of any estimated taxes owed to avoid any penalties or interest. For Illinoisans needing an extension, the Illinois Department of Revenue has form IL-505-I which is for automatic extension payment. The form provides taxpayers who are unable to file their returns by the due date a means of calculating and remitting an estimated tax liability.

Illinois State Police recover 274 stolen vehicles

In the first quarter of the year, Illinois State Police report they’ve recovered 274 stolen or hijacked vehicles. ISP said their efforts are utilizing $10 million from the Illinois Vehicle Hijacking and Motor Vehicle Theft Prevention and Insurance Verification Council grant through the Illinois Secretary of State.

Illinois House returns to session today

The Illinois House is in session Monday afternoon. There are dozens of bills that could come up for final passage. Friday is the deadline for House bills to pass on third reading. The Illinois Senate and House will be in session on Tuesday.
