Feb 11 (Reuters) – Viking Therapeutics said on Wednesday that it plans to test its experimental oral obesity drug in a late-stage study later this year.
Shares of the company rose nearly 10% to $31.28 in after-market trading.
The company plans to advance a tablet form of its experimental obesity drug, VK2735, into late-stage studies in the third-quarter of this year.
Last year, the company said the tablet formulation of VK2735 showed average weight-loss of up to 12.2% after 13 weeks.
