(The Center Square) – In today’s edition of Illinois in Focus Daily, The Center Square Editor Greg Bishop reviews the order from a federal judge dismissing the U.S. Department of Justice’s lawsuit challenging migrant sanctuary policies in the state of Illinois. The DOJ now has until Aug. 22 to file an amended complaint, or the case will be dismissed with prejudice.

Bishop also previews what could be some of the legislation Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker plans to sign Monday morning concerning gun control legislation. One measure, Senate Bill 8, would require firearms be locked up inside a premise where there may be a prohibited person.

Finally, Bishop shares highlights from Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s address to Democrats in North Carolina Saturday about the state of the party and what he said is his “contemptuous of MAGA Republicans.”
