Dolton looks to hire Lightfoot to investigate Henyard

Four Dolton trustees are looking to hire former Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot to investigate their mayor, Tiffany Henyard. The investigation stems from a trip to Las Vegas in May 2023.

The Village Board said it wants a thorough investigation into the trip, including all expenditures. Trustees said it is proposing the appointment Lightfoot as additional legislative counsel because she is a former mayor and former federal prosecutor.

Men arrested for meth

Three men are facing drug charges after police recently recovered 33 pounds of methamphetamine during a traffic stop in southern Illinois. The traffic stop took place on Interstate 57 near Marion.

Police said a K-9 alerted officers of possible drugs in the vehicle. During a search, Marion police said they found about 33 pounds of crystal meth. The Marion Police Department described the haul as a “load of ice.”

Two Illinois men and a Missouri man were arrested and charged with drug possession.

Top spot for Chicago restaurant

A popular Illinois restaurant has received another accolade. Kasama, a modern Filipino restaurant in Chicago, has landed the No. 5 spot on Food and Wine magazine’s most recent “Top 20 Restaurants in the U.S.”

Kasama opened in 2020 in the city’s Ukrainian Village neighborhood. The eatery was also featured in season two of the Chicago-based show “The Bear,” which highlights the restaurant industry.
