FBI reportedly investing Dolton mayor

The FBI has launched an investigation into Dolton Mayor Tiffany Henyard. Fox 32 reports that federal agents are interviewing witnesses about Henyard’s alleged use of taxpayer dollars, including massive spending on out-of-town trips.

They have also inquired about hundreds of thousands of dollars in police overtime for the mayor’s personal security detail, and an allegation that she refused to renew a business license because the owner refused to donate to a civic event sponsored by Henyard.

Driver of stolen U-Haul dies

The driver of a stolen U-Haul truck who led police on a chase that ended in the Little Calumet River has died.

Hammond, Indiana, police were chasing the driver Wednesday morning when the truck drove into the river in Illinois. The driver then attempted to swim away from pursuing officers.

Chicago Fire Department divers rescued the suspect, but he was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead.

Man in custody after flight

A man who tried to open a plane door on the way to Chicago had to be duct taped mid-flight.

An American Airlines plane was heading to O’Hare Airport from Albuquerque, New Mexico, when a man tried to open a plane door at 26,000 feet. That is when airline staff and passengers tackled the man and duck-taped him until the plane returned back to Albuquerque.

The unruly passenger was taken into custody by police, who were waiting at the gate.
