Missing child recovered

U.S. Marshals in northern Illinois say they worked with the Chicago Police Department to recover a child who was reported missing seven years ago.

The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services had custody of the missing infant in 2018, when it was suspected that the child was with the biological mother but not safe with her.

The mother was arrested on July 17. The child and two others were taken into DCFS custody.

Scholarships awarded to DCFS youths

The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services celebrated 347 current or former youth in their care for receiving state taxpayer-funded scholarships to Illinois public universities, community colleges and vocational schools.

In three years, DCFS said more than 950 scholarships have been awarded.

Feds release frozen education funds

Illinois will get $219 million in federal tax funds for education after all. Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul said the restoration of the frozen funds was officially confirmed Friday.

The Trump administration froze the funds in June, but lifted the hold last week. Raoul joined other states in a lawsuit against the freeze.
