Union president’s unpaid bills

The head of the Chicago Teachers Union has not paid thousands of dollars in utility bills since last summer.

According to Illinois Policy Institute, Stacy Gates was behind $5,100 in her water, sewer and garbage services bills before starting a payment plan last July, then immediately defaulted on the plan. As of Nov. 7, she still owed over $5,500 to the city.

Gates’ salary to be the president of the CTU is $289,000. Her tenure has been filled with controversy, including recently being accused of taking a homestead tax exemption on an Indiana home that she didn’t live in.

Nathaniel Huey, Jr. was immediately identified as a suspect in the deaths of a couple and their two children. Huey and his fiancé died in a fiery crash in Oklahoma days later when police tried to pull them over.
